Willamette River Boats

image

$5.00

Average length is 9 inches.

These little wooden boats are individually hand made by our favorite docent, Mr. Dennis Eberly. He made these boats for his students at Henry Hill School before retiring in 2000, after 33 years of service. They were numbered and the schools address was written on them and his students threw them into the Willamette River. When they were found people would write the school to tell where and when they found them. It was great fun for the students! Today folks buy them for the same experience and Mr. Eberly takes a few to toss into water bodies all over the world during his travels. People old and young still write and he faithfully writes back. If only his first name was Waldo; we could write a book. All proceeds are being generously donated to the Heritage Museum Annex fund.
