Area MuseumsPolk County Historical Society The Polk County Historical Society (PCHS) was formed in 1959. The PCHS is an all volunteer organization operated solely on donated funds, grants, memberships and admissions. Each year the PHCS holds several major fund raising events including the Brunk House’s Annual Apple Festival and a Porch Sale in July.
The Jensen Arctic Museum , located on the Western Oregon University campus, is the only museum on the West Coast devoted solely to collecting, preserving, and teaching about Arctic culture and ecology. Wings of Wonder is Oregon’s largest exotic and native butterfly exhibit and on site rearing lab, welcoming visitors to celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature. Exhibits highlight the beauty and fanciful flights of both North American and imported exotic butterflies, one of their goals are to present nature and its interdependency through both exhibit observation and classroom education. |
