Mr. Roudebaugh traveled with his wife, Kiwanda and daughters, Janell and Judy on the Oregon Trail in 1959. This day to day diary tells of the ‘modern day’ hardships as well as some of the conveniences they experienced during their 4-month ordeal. This wagon train was part of the Oregon Centennial. Over a million people came to see the wagons travel the trail. This figure does not include the thousands that lined the streets in the cities and towns the wagons traveled through. The Heritage Museum still houses the Independence wagon purchased by the local Junior J.C.’s club for $1,500. Locals who visited the wagons customarily signed their names on the canvas’. The folks in Topeka, KS, were very enthusiastic about signing the canvas. First Edition, 82 pp.
The proceeds from this book are being generously donated by his daughters to the Heritage Museum Annex fund.
